Children

A child's dental care begins with prenatal advice to the parents and continues with parental oral care advice for the child's first few years. A child's first visit to our office, recommended at about 1 year of age, is called a "Happy Visit" where we introduce them to our office and staff, let them ride up and down in the chair and ask them to show us their wonderful smile. During this visit, we also interview the parent regarding the child's home dental care and health. This interview encompasses the child's diet, oral habits, brushing technique and other preventive strategies with the goal of setting the child up for a lifetime of excellent dental habits and health.

Often Smiles @ France can perform a limited cleaning and exam, at this first visit, but this may be completed with greater thoroughness when the child matures and cooperation improves. We encourage you to schedule your child when they are at their best. This is usually early in the day after a good night's sleep and favorite breakfast. Scheduling a child late in the afternoon, when they are hungry and cranky, is not advised.

Our goal is to show your child that dental care is fun and that Smiles @ France is a trustworthy place to visit. We want your child to be excited about his or her beautiful teeth and smile!
