New Patient—First Visit

Your first visit to Smiles @ France will be a friendly and relaxed one. We want you to feel welcome and comfortable in our office. We will listen carefully while getting to know you, your dental concerns, wishes, and expectations at a relaxed pace. You will feel “understood.”

Most patients come to us with a particular pressing need or desire as the reason for their visit. However other  concerns may need to be discussed as well. For most patients, we begin with the Comprehensive Evaluation.

Comprehensive Evaluation

  • Complete and Comprehensive interview and evaluation of all your dental concerns and needs, which leads to an appropriate and thorough treatment plan.

  • Includes a head & neck cancer screening exam, Temporal Mandibular Joint (TMJ) and bite analysis, full periodontal (gum) evaluation, tooth structure analysis (decay, wear, fractures and tooth looseness).

  • Takes into account both short and long-term concerns and needs.

  • The most common way to enter our practice.

Emergency, Limited Evaluation

  • Focuses on only one emergency problem–pain or cosmetic–and is usually followed by a Comprehensive Evaluation once the emergency situation is resolved.

Complementary Cosmetic or Other Consultation

  • Free consultation – no exam, no obligation.

  • One-on-one discussion of your desires and concerns; often leads to a Comprehensive Evaluation and Smile Analysis.

  • General topics, not detailed treatment plans are discussed.

  • Fees are not discussed during this consultation without a Smile Analysis (to estimate complexity and fees).

  • This is a good opportunity for those who want to meet Dr. Cook prior to committing to any care.

Smile Analysis—Functional and Aesthetic

  • Frequently needed to compliment the Comprehensive Evaluation.

  • Complete needs and wants interview and evaluation of your smile.

  • Taking records–including: radiographs, digital diagnostic photographic series, creation of 3-D teeth models and bite records.

  • A Comprehensive Consultation follows to discuss your options including fees and is scheduled after these records are made and evaluated.

Comprehensive Consultation: Specific Treatment Planning Session

    • This consultation is used when your dental needs and desires require in-depth planning and consideration of options.

    • Benefits and risks of different treatment options are discussed.

    • You are welcome, even encouraged to bring a family member or trusted friend to these sessions, especially if they will offer guidance to you when making decisions.

    • Treatment time-lines, fees and financial arrangements are discussed.

    • Dr. Cook believes that you should choose or eliminate reasonable treatment options, not any limiting insurance plan.
