Porcelain Veneers & Porcelain Crowns: Heavy Wear—A Smile That Takes Her Back to Sweet 16!

Years of nightly grinding had shortened and chipped this patient’s teeth, making them sore and sensitive. Tender jaw muscles and frequent headaches also resulted. A Tanner bruxism appliance was provided to protect her teeth from nightly grinding. Now her tooth, muscle and headache pain has gone away and her quality of sleep has improved.

We restored eight of her upper front teeth, placing porcelain veneers across the six anterior teeth and two all-ceramic crowns on the adjacent bicuspids. She says she feels rejuvenated and receives compliments galore!

Before smile of aged, worn, chipped teeth

Left "social" view of aged, worn and chipped teeth

Lips at rest

Lipr retracted, teeth together

Lips retracted, teeth apart highlighting the gums and adged, ragged edges

After smile, six porcelain veneers and two ceramic crowns (bicuspids)

Right "social" view. Notice the surface texture is a polished, stippled texture like that of an orange; it sparkles at different angles like the facets of a diamond. Worn smooth like and apple is dull and uninteresting. It takes a highly skilled ceramist to create the sparkly, stippled youthful texture, but the dentist has to demand it.
